Canton Grisons - Section for Forest and Natural Hazards (Switzerland)

The stakeholder partner is the public contact point for natural hazards and risks in the southern part of Eastern Switzerland’s Canton Grisons. It conducts risk assessment, hazard zoning and post-event intervention and defines priorities for construction measures against hazards. It follows the guidelines of integrative risk management.

Key Research Facilities

The stakeholder partner commissions multisensing monitoring systems in endangered valleys such as the Val Bondasca, Switzerland, which hosted the deadly 2017 Piz Cengalo rock avalanche. Instrumentation targets rock and ice avalanches, debris flows, rock falls and landslides.
